Festival2Funky2020: Female Artist Commissions


Now in its seventh year, Festival2Funky will be an awesome celebration of Black music and arts, running from 22-24 May 2020 at 2Funky Music Café, The 2Funky Lounge and 2Funky Street Kitchen in Leicester’s vibrant West End. This year’s focus is to boost representation of female urban music talent across the festival and beyond.


2Funky Arts is looking for three emerging female vocalists, working across urban genres, who would like to be part of this year’s festival. Each selected artist will receive £300, work with established singer Carol Leeming MBE and perform as part of this year’s sterling line up. Applicants must be aged 18+, unsigned but with some performance experience, and living in Leicester or Leicestershire.

“This is a great opportunity for emerging female vocalists to receive expert guidance, hone their craft and raise their profile as part of an established urban arts festival.”

Festival2Funky will encompass hip hop, house, dub, jungle, afrobeat, jazz, soul, R&B, grime, drum & bass, afrobashment, trap, bassline and more. Exhilarating live performances across these genres, will feature alongside a family rave, masterclasses, DJ sets, after-parties and lots more.

Festival wristbands (£10) for access to the full weekend, will be available on the door and via Early bird tickets for selected individual events will be priced at £5. The festival will launch on 22.05.20 via a free taster showcase event at 2Funky Lounge.
