Project Live 2019

Project Live 2019

Quest to Uncover New Urban Music Talent...

Singers and rappers from Leicester and Leicestershire are invited to apply for an exciting professional development programme that will take their careers to the next level. Run by 2Funky Arts and Musical Director Lisa Millet, Project LIVE will help eight emerging urban artists to write new material, raise their profile, and secure live bookings and management.

Artists will learn more about the music industry, rehearse with professional artists, perform as part of a high profile showcase and record new tracks for a compilation. Project LIVE is aimed at artists working primarily in music of Black origin, including soul, R&B, jazz, funk, gospel, grime, hip hop, Afro beats and reggae.

2FunkyArts Director Vijay Mistry says:

This is a unique opportunity for local artists. Across four previous rounds, we’ve uncovered some amazing talent, and this programme is set to be even bigger and better.”

Singers and rappers will apply for the opportunity, and those shortlisted will be interviewed by a professional panel, including established artist Lisa Millet. Applicants must be over 18, unsigned and from Leicester or Leicestershire. The project is £50 (for working people) and free for those in receipt of certain benefits.

To apply, please contact Vijay Mistry on info@2funkyarts.co.uk. The deadline for applications is 18 August 2019

Artists selected will take part in weekly sessions (Mondays or Tuesdays), at 2Funky Music Café, Leicester, between September 2019 and December 2019. Music Industry partners include Punch Records, Baby People and HQRecording Studio.

Supported using public funding by ArtsCouncil England & Leicester City Council.
