SPECTRUM: Heritage Lottery Fund grant to unlock Leicester’s Black Music heritage

2Funky Arts is delighted to announce a Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) grant towards a project to engage volunteers in researching, documenting and celebrating the history of Black music styles in Leicester over the last 40 years. Spectrum will see the creation of a documentary film, charting the history of soul, disco, reggae, R&B, gospel, drum 'n' bass, hip hop and ‘urban’ music in the city.

Following the launch of Curve’s Artist and Community Engagement Programme in October 2012, 2FunkyArts was successfully selected as one of the first participatory arts groups from the East Midlands to join the pilot scheme at the theatre from January to August this year.

The Go-Ahead Youth (TGY) is a voluntary youth-led organisation run by young people aged 20-25 years old. We work with BME young people to help them reach their full potential and fight any barriers they have to mainstream activities. We also recognise and celebrate the success of outstanding Black youth in our community through our Star Awards.

For the third year running we are taking you back to Marbella for more sun, pool parties and clubbing in VIP style!
